Ethics of publications

The annual collection of scientific works “Ukrainian Art Studies: Materials, Investigations, Reviews" in its editorial policy consistently adheres to the publishing standards of the COPE Code of Conduct, approved by the COP (Committee on Publication Ethics).

The editorial board does everything necessary to ensure that the review is high-quality, honest, impartial and timely. Based on the principle of objectivity and from the standpoint of the highest international academic quality standards, the materials submitted by the authors are reviewed by members of the editorial board of the scientific publication and independent experts who have deep professional knowledge and experience in the field of issues to which the reviewed article is devoted and do not have any conflict of interest with the author of the article. Reviewing is carried out confidentially, except in cases of unreliability or falsification of materials.

The opinions and suggestions expressed in the articles do not necessarily coincide with the point of view of the editorial board.

Submitted materials are not returned to the author, but are stored in the editorial office archive.

 

Ethical obligations of the editorial board of the collection

The editorial board is responsible for the publication.

The editorial board reviews all manuscripts submitted for publication and does everything necessary to ensure that the review is high-quality, honest, impartial and timely.

Reviewers of manuscripts can be both members of the editorial board of the annual collection of scientific works “Ukrainian Art Studies: Materials, Research, Reviews”, and external highly qualified specialists who have deep professional knowledge and experience in the field of issues to which the reviewed article is devoted and do not have any conflict of interest with the author of the article.

All articles submitted to the editorial board undergo the review (scientific examination) procedure, with the exception of reviews of scientific works and informational messages.

The editorial board's decisions on accepting or rejecting an article for publication should be based on the importance of the article for the relevant scientific direction, its originality, logicality and clarity of the presentation of the material, the validity of the conclusions, and the article's compliance with the collection's profile.

The editorial board reserves the right to additionally appoint an independent reviewer. Each scientist is obliged to perform certain work related to the review process.

The editorial board of the yearbook reserves the right to return the article to the author/authors for revision or to reject it in case of non-compliance with the topic and policy of the collection of scientific works, requirements for articles, ethical obligations of the author/authors, negative review or the presence of significant comments from reviewers. The author is obliged to finalize the article in accordance with the comments of reviewers or the editorial board.

The editorial board of the publication reserves the right to stylistic editing of the manuscript and shortening of the text, while preserving its content and author's style, as well as with the mandatory approval of all changes made by the author.

The editorial board may reject the manuscript without review if it believes that the work does not meet the profile of the collection.

The editorial board of the journal opposes falsification, plagiarism, the author's submission of one work to several journals, multiple copying of the content of an article in different works, and misleading the public about the authors' real contribution to the publication.

The editorial board has the right to withdraw even a published article, provided that it is found to violate someone's rights or generally accepted standards of scientific ethics.

After a positive decision by the editor-in-chief, the article is published in a collection and placed on relevant electronic resources.

 

Ethical obligations of reviewers

The review procedure is anonymous for both the reviewer and the authors and is carried out by two independent reviewers (double “blind” review). The reviewers do not know about the author, and the author does not know about the reviewers. The members of the editorial board do not disclose information related to the manuscript to anyone except the authors and reviewers themselves. A breach of confidentiality is possible only in the case of unreliability or falsification of materials.

Reviewers must comply with the requirements for ethics in scientific publications of the Committee on Publication Ethics and be objective and unbiased.

The reviewer must objectively and professionally assess the quality of the manuscript. The article is assessed for its compliance with the publication profile, novelty, relevance of the research, completeness of the source base, theoretical and methodological principles, originality of the concept, depth of understanding of the selected subject of coverage, scientific significance of the article, compliance of its structure with the goals and objectives, logic of the presentation of the material. The article must meet the requirements of the scientific style of presentation and the rules of current spelling.

Responsibility for compliance with copyright, the content of the article, the reliability of the information presented in it, the correct spelling of proper names (surnames, first names, geographical names, names of educational institutions, institutions, etc.) lies with the author / authors.

The reviewer must treat the manuscript subject to review as a confidential document: do not show the manuscript to other persons, do not discuss it with other colleagues, except in special cases when the reviewer needs someone's special consultation.

The reviewer should draw the editor's attention to any significant similarity between the manuscript and any other published article or manuscript known to him/her.

Reviewers should clearly explain and justify their considerations regarding the article so that the editorial board members and authors understand what their comments and conclusions are based on. Any statement that certain materials in the article have been previously published should be accompanied by a reference to the appropriate source.

The reviewer should provide feedback on the manuscript in a timely manner.

 

Ethical commitment of authors

The author must submit his manuscript in accordance with the requirements of the periodical for publications.

The author's duty is to provide a thorough scientific presentation of the results of the research, as well as to objectively disclose its relevance and novelty.

The authors of the articles are fully responsible for the content of the articles, the reliability of the information provided in them, the accuracy of the titles, statistical data, surnames, quotes and other data.

The author must not include in his articles calls for violence, incitement of racial or ethnic hatred, judgments that cause concern, are threatening, shameful, defamatory, cruel, indecent, vulgar, etc.; submit materials that are not subject to publication in the open press, in accordance with current regulatory acts.

It is unacceptable to present plagiarism as an original work and to submit for publication an article that has already been published or submitted for publication in another publication. In cases where this fact is discovered, the authors of the provided materials are responsible.
